Downstairs at the Kings Head announces bills for 30th anniversary shows
A fantastic week of gigs at the Kings Head kicks off on Monday 19th October with Arthur Smith, John Sparkes, Kevin Eldon, Ivor Dembina, Bob Boyton and Nick Revell, with MC Huw Thomas. Tuesday 20th features John Hegley, Martin Coyote, Chris Lynam and Otiz Cannelloni.
Sean Lock and Stewart Lee top the bill on Wednesday 21st supported by the talents of Pete Firman and Simon Evans. Phil Nichol and Mark Maier star on Thursday 22nd along with Bridget Christie, Gordon Southern. MC for that show is Dominic Frisby.
Saturday 24th features Andrea Hubert, Ivo Graham, David James, Diane Morgan and John Gordillo. Plus there will be loads of famous names from the world of comedy popping in unannounced throughout the week.
On Friday 23rd Crouch End’s huge Comedy Gala at Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre includes Edinburgh Comedy Award winners Phil Nichol and Roisin Conaty, Mark Dolan, Phil Nichol, Josh Howie, Huw Thomas, Dominic Frisby, East End Cabaret and many more.
Boom-Tish! at ArtHouse on Thursday 22nd is hosted by Rich Wilson and includes Jay Foreman, Vikki Stone, Pete Antoniou, Suzanna Gonzo and Danny & his Amazing Balloons. Boom-Tish! are also running Best New Act 2015 at the Earl Haig Hall on Tuesday 20th and ArtHouse are screening brand new British movie SuperBob starring Brett Goldstein & Catherine Tate. In celebration of 30 years of comedy Downstairs at the Kings Head – one of the oldest comedy clubs in the UK – we’re proud to present the Crouch End Comedy Festival from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th October 2015.
Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre, ArtHouse, Earl Haig Hall and the newly refurbished Downstairs at the Kings Head are joining forces to present a feast of comedy gigs and special events.
Sean Lock, Stewart Lee, Arthur Smith, John Hegley and Phil Nichol lead a star-studded line up appearing in 5 glittering shows at the Kings Head.
The venue’s co-founder Peter Grahame says, “We’ve got some fantastic acts lined up for the festival and we’re also promising loads of surprise appearances by some of the most famous names in the comedy business.”
On Tuesday 20th Boom-Tish present Best New Act 2015 – a brand new competition for comedy and variety acts, hosted by Dominic Frisby in a 1940’s style “comedy bunker” at the Earl Haig Hall.
On Thursday 22nd Boom-Tish! presents a night of comedy and variety with award-winning comics Vikki Stone and Jay Foreman at the ArtHouse.
ArtHouse is also presenting two great events for kids – a comedy music show and comedy workshop on Saturday 24th and a magic show with veteran comedian Otiz Cannelloni on Sunday 25th.
Friday 23rd October features a Festival Comedy Gala in the 800 seat venue at Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre starring Edinburgh Comedy Award winners Phil Nichol and Roisin Conarty, plus Mark Dolan, Josh Howie and many more.
The festival comes to a close on Sunday 25th as Sketch Club present a showcase featuring Mid-Brow – winners of The Gilded Balloon’s prestigious Best New Sketch Act 2015.
